The Challenge

When it comes to tank lining, Roperhurst is a leader in the lining of steel, concrete, plastic and GRP pits and vessels. In recent years we have lined tanks at many of the UK’s largest galvanising plants, as well as at steelworks, automotive plants and other large industrial sites. This particular site was running at full capacity when we were asked to line two of its tanks.

Recognising that it was critical that we minimise our customer’s downtime, our teams worked through a bank holiday weekend to ensure that the plant was up and running as quickly as possible. The plastic material is black Polyethylene 300 grade, required for the lining of 2off tanks 8.5m x 1.2m x 2m deep and a return flange all around the top edge. The tanks also required pipe spools and PE pipe brackets to the floor to secure the sparge and agitation air loop. Preparing the lining kits in our factory to reduce the amount of work to be carried out on site was proven to be the best solution to meet our customer needs. All tank welds were full penetration using hand and extruder welding equipment and full spark test before handing them back for use.

Having trained crane operators as part of our team, this allowed us to take advantage of customer infrastructure to get the work done on schedule, and with minimum disruption. With a history of more than 20 tanks lined over the last 2 years, our customers know our consistent level of quality and our ability to meet strict deadlines.
