Following a major fire, our client faced a race against time to get its facilities back up and running.  Roperhurst was tasked with not only replacing 150m ductwork ranging from 1500mm diameter downwards, but also to offer up a solution which not only retained its chemical resistant properties but which also offered additional defence against fire in the future.

The previous ductwork had been fabricated in PVC reinforced with a general purpose fibreglass resin.  Following discussions with the customer, we agreed to fabricate the ductwork using a flexible fabric-backed polypropylene reinforced with a fire retardant resin.

Almost as it was completed, each piece of ductwork was dispatched with our installation teams to ensure that no time was wasted.  Our site team worked alongside steel fabricators, fitters, engineers, painters and electricians to get the ductwork installed alongside other services.

In the meantime, our site teams also rebuilt a substantial proportion of the PVC/GRP fume scrubber, and reinstalled hundreds of metres of polypropylene and PVDF pipework.

Hard work, without question, but very rewarding to know that we helped our client get back to work.
