Roperhurst has taken delivery of the latest stage in its investment programme with the acquisition from INGENIA of a 4050mm wide butt fusion machine.

High performance INGENIA Butt-Welding machines are computer controlled. The welding cycle runs automatically, with the main welding parameters are stored in a database, linked to the CNC table force control.  INGENIA machines are designed according the requirements established by the DVS e. V. (German Association for Welding Techniques) and CEN standards.

Roperhurst’s machine, one of the largest in the UK, allows welding of sheets up to 4m wide and 30mm thick.  Roperhurst has also purchased a 90 degree welding device and a sheet rolling mechanism.

Bob Lane, Roperhurst’s MD, says, “This latest investment allows us to butt weld all standard thermoplastics, including PVC, polypropylene, polyethylene and PVDF, substantially increasing our capacity for tanks and ductwork.  In addition, by investing in the optional rolling technology, we can now roll and butt fuse sheets for larger diameter circular tanks and ductwork.”

This investment follows the move at the start of the year into larger premises and the recruitment of three additional members of staff.

INGENIA provided on site training for the machine, attended by all Roperhurst staff.
